Polish towns redevelop sites into recreation hubs

In late July 2026, Ostrołęka began demolishing a former hospital on Sienkiewicza Street to make way for an amphitheater and a saline‑spa complex, part of a plan to reconnect the city with the Narew River and support a new bridge. By early August 2026, the redevelopment drive continued. Ostrow Wielkopolski opened a public consultation for a planned aquapark, allowing residents to comment on design and facilities. In Ostrołęka, a councilor urged the mayor to start work on the "Park Przyrodniczo‑Retencyjny Doliny Narwi – Otok", a retention basin and nature‑education area aimed at mitigating spring flooding, with funding sought from a national programme.

These developments show a broader trend in several Polish municipalities to transform former public or sports sites into modern recreational facilities while integrating flood‑control measures and seeking community input.
