Political fallout from Tetovo hospital tragedy

Overview

Following a tragedy at a modular hospital in Tetovo that resulted in 14 deaths, political tensions have emerged regarding accountability and the investigation's findings.

The political entity VLEN condemned the legal outcome, criticizing the prosecution and political leadership for failing to establish criminal responsibility. VLEN argued that attributing the cause to a “cable” rather than human or institutional error represents a failure of the justice system. They called for an independent investigation to ensure justice for the victims.

In response, the Alliance for Albanians (ASH) accused VLEN of hypocrisy. ASH claimed that VLEN leaders were part of the government during the period of the tragedy and are now attempting to distance themselves from their previous political roles. The party stated that the lives lost should not be used as “tools for political propaganda or partisan warfare.”
