Political instability in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina

Overview

Political instability and institutional friction have intensified in the region. In Belgrade, Mayor Aleksandar Šapić was detained following a physical altercation with Tatjana Mićić, a councilwoman from the Kreni-Promeni movement, and her husband. The confrontation reportedly resulted in Mićić sustaining a broken nose and a fractured jaw.

Simultaneously, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sherif Špago, head of the SDA parliamentary group, has accused the ruling coalition of eroding Bosniak representation within state institutions. Špago alleged that key agencies, including the Agency for State Service and the Employment Agency, have been transferred to the HDZ and SNSD parties. He further noted that other entities, such as the Indirect Taxation Authority and the Insurance Agency, are experiencing leadership vacuums or diminished Bosniak management participation due to political shifts and incomplete competition procedures.
