Pontevedra cultural initiatives

In late July 2026, the Diputación de Pontevedra inaugurated the "Son Verán" summer concert series, a schedule of 13 performances across historic venues in the province, beginning with singer‑songwriter Gabriel Fandi in Baiona and featuring a mix of opera, folk, Celtic and world music through September.

A few days later, the council expanded its cultural support by launching the +Escénicas circuit, subsidising professional theatre and dance for small municipalities. The programme, funded with a €204,000 budget—a 36 % increase over its first edition—covers the majority of costs for towns under 20,000 residents and runs until March 2027, offering over 600 performance proposals.

Together, the two initiatives illustrate a broadening effort by Pontevedra's provincial government to enrich local cultural life, pairing a summer music festival with an extended theatre‑dance subsidy scheme that targets smaller communities.
