Portugal jewelry theft investigations

Overview

Portuguian police have been probing a series of high‑value jewelry disappearances linked to televised events and a fashion stylist. The first case involved a €346,000 collection of gold, diamond and emerald pieces loaned to presenter Raquel Petronilho for the January 2024 finale of The Voice Portugal. The items were never returned, prompting a criminal investigation by the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) in Lisbon.

A second incident, reported in April 2025, concerned a gold‑and‑diamond necklace worth over €10,000 that vanished after singer Bárbara Bandeira wore it at a promotional event. The theft was filed with the same police unit, which has also examined other missing pieces supplied by stylist Raquel Guerreiro. Both cases remain under investigation, with the stylist denying involvement and the designer Maria Baptista alleging deception.
