The project aims to integrate modern standards for safety, reliability, accessibility, and technological supervision while preserving the historical identity of the Calçada da Glória. Technical studies continue to involve experts from the National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC), the Ordem dos Engenheiros, and the Instituto Superior Técnico. Carris has revealed that the new cabins will be constructed from more resistant materials rather than wood to ensure safety, with an inauguration projected for 2029.

Regarding the investigation into the 2025 accident, the accident investigation body, GPIAAF, has indicated that the final report is now expected to be released by the end of the first quarter of 2027 due to the complexity of the technical assessments.
