Portugal regional tourism development initiatives

Overview

Various regional initiatives have been introduced in Portugal to bolster the tourism sector. In Portimão, the City Council launched the ‘Portimão Tourism Development and Promotion Strategy – Horizon 2035’. This long-term project involves partnering with ‘IPDT – Tourism Intelligence’ to conduct surveys and address challenges such as seasonality, sustainability, and market competitiveness.

Other regional efforts include the ‘Vamos Falar de Turismo’ event in Montemor-o-Novo, which focuses on cooperation and territorial development. Additionally, the Algarve region is hosting the ‘Nature & Nautic Sessions’ to promote nautical tourism through network cooperation between public entities and private companies. This session is part of the ‘Internationalize + Algarve 3.0’ project, co-financed by the European Union.
