In Alentejo, the Regional Wine Commission (CVRA) approved new designations for ‘Vinhas Velhas’ (vines at least 35 years old) and ‘Vinhas Centenárias’ (vines registered before 1931), while extending ‘Vinho de Talha’ certification across the entire region. Additionally, while individual products like Pacheca Trésor and Menin Porto Tawny 80 Anos gained recognition, producers are increasingly focusing on climate change resilience, utilizing genetic diversity and new viticultural techniques to combat droughts and heatwaves.
