Premio Tenco 2026 festival

Overview

The 49th edition of the Premio Tenco took place from October 20 to 24, 2026, at the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo. Dedicated to the memory of Sergio Secondiano Sacchi, the festival’s theme, ‘Dio è morto’ (God is dead), explored how creative expression can resist violence, homogenization, and the reduction of art to algorithms.

Lifetime achievement awards (Premio Tenco alla carriera) were presented to Manuel Agnelli and Afterhours, Enzo Avitabile, Frankie Hi-NRG MC, Max Manfredi, and Paola Turci. Additional honors included the Premio Yorum, awarded to Juan Carlos ‘Flaco’ Biondini in collaboration with Amnesty International Italia, and Cultural Operator awards for Cesare Bermani and Andrea Scanzi. The program also featured a masterclass for Franco Battiato.

Hosted by Neri Marcorè, the ceremony included performances such as Manuel Agnelli’s rendition of Luigi Tenco’s ‘Lontano lontano’. Award winners included Avincola for best interpreter album, Carmen Consoli for best dialect album, and Piji, Emma Nolde, and Filippo Graziani. Caparezza also participated with a surrealist rap performance.

During the event, the rapper Anastasio commented on the fragmented state of Italian society, noting a lack of dialogue between different social groups, and discussed the evolving definition of the ‘singer-songwriter’ to include rappers alongside the impact of artificial intelligence on music.
