Preschool infrastructure development in Balkans
Overview
New preschool infrastructure projects are being completed and inaugurated in several regions to expand early childhood education capacity.
In Prijedor, specifically the Pećani settlement, a new kindergarten with a capacity for 220 children is nearing completion and is expected to be operational within approximately two months. The Government of Republika Srpska provided 1.5 million KM to finalize the facility, which includes modern amenities such as climate control.
In Croatia, significant developments have occurred in Vukovar and Pribislavec. A new 6.7 million EUR preschool facility in Vukovar’s Olajnica settlement has officially opened. The facility accommodates 248 children across 14 groups and was funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, the Vukovar City Reconstruction and Development Fund, and the municipal budget. Mayor Marijan Pavliček stated that the increase in enrollment reflects a trend of residents returning to the city. Additionally, the Magnolija Kindergarten has opened in Pribislavec, providing space for 108 children.
