President Tinubu visit to Akwa Ibom State

Overview

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State declared a work-free day for November 6, 2026, to facilitate a reception for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Governor noted that the visit would allow the administration to showcase various infrastructure projects and serve as a platform for a rally supporting the President’s 2027 re-election bid.

During an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, President Tinubu approved the Ibom Deep Seaport project. This approval followed a request from Governor Eno, who described the seaport as a critical economic priority for the South-South region and a potential transshipment hub. In exchange for the project, Governor Eno pledged that Akwa Ibom would deliver two million votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The President also formally inaugurated the new terminal at Victor Attah International Airport, enabling international flight operations. Other commissioned projects included the International Airport Hospital and the Ibom Aviation Village. During the visit, Tinubu also recalled his professional history in the state, noting he previously worked as an auditor for Mobil in Akwa Ibom.
