PRI political organization in Ciudad Juárez

Overview

The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in Ciudad Juárez is facing challenges in its territorial organization efforts. Alberto Reyes Rojas, president of the PRI municipal committee, reported difficulties recruiting sectional defenders for various electoral districts as part of the ‘defensores de México’ initiative.

Reyes Rojas stated that potential participants fear losing government assistance if they are publicly associated with the party. This initiative, launched by Alejandro Moreno, aims to strengthen the party’s presence in neighborhoods and build an opposition bloc by including civil society members ahead of the 2027 elections. Since August, the party has completed 40 percent of its goal to establish 1,280 sectional committees in the region.
