Overview

In late August 2026, protesters in Guadalajara, Mexico, gathered outside Casa Jalisco and the Palacio de Gobierno to demand state intervention following the disappearance of Violeta Alejandra Santana Bueno and Melissa Anahí Carranza Contreras. The women were reportedly last seen on July 27 while traveling to work in Acatlán de Juárez.

By mid-September, similar demonstrations occurred in Guanajuato, Mexico, where the family of Miguel González Aguilar protested outside the Municipal Presidency. The family sought information regarding his disappearance on July 26, reporting that they had received “telephone threats to cease their search” and noting a lack of progress from the State Attorney General’s Office.
