PSIM Yogyakarta coaching changes
Overview
Following a poor start to the 2026/2027 Super League season, PSIM Yogyakarta management dismissed head coach Jean Paul Van Gastel. The decision was prompted by a five-match winless streak that left the club in 16th place within the relegation zone.
Club President Yuliana Tasno stated the dismissal was necessary for club stability. Guntur Cahyo Utomo was initially appointed as caretaker coach while management searched for a permanent replacement.
On October 31, the club announced Serbian coach Risto Vidakovic as the new head coach. Vidakovic, who holds a UEFA Pro license, will be supported by assistant coach Edin Prljaca. Manager Iksan Mahar noted that Vidakovic was selected based on tactical analysis and his previous experience in Indonesian football.
