PSOE political activity in Cantabria

Overview

The PSOE has engaged in various political activities in Cantabria, focusing on both sectoral support and government oversight. Initially, Pedro Casares, Secretary General of the PSOE in Cantabria, pledged party support for the agricultural and livestock sectors. He emphasized the need for concrete policies to address rising costs for fuel and fertilizers, citing the distribution of millions of euros in Common Agricultural Policy and European funds to local farmers.

Subsequently, the PSOE shifted focus toward parliamentary challenges against the regional government. Spokesperson Mario Iglesias brought an interpellation to the Cantabria Parliament, accusing the administration of dismantling scientific tools through administrative simplification. The party also alleged that the government is misusing Singular Projects of Regional Interest to bypass municipal planning for private developers. Furthermore, the opposition expressed intent to resolve long-standing land consolidation processes in Ruente and Polaciones.
