PT PAL shipyard transformation in Indonesia

On July 25, 2026, Danantara Asset Management pledged to accelerate the transformation of PT PAL Indonesia, emphasizing stronger corporate governance, risk management and advanced technologies to boost productivity, domestic component content (TKDN) and employment.

Four days later, on July 28, DPD member La Nyalla Mahmud Mattalitti visited the Surabaya shipyard and urged the government to adopt a consistent policy favoring domestic content in defence procurement. He proposed a Public‑Private‑People (4P) partnership linking the state‑owned shipyard, private firms and local communities to create an inclusive maritime industrial ecosystem, and called for sustained state‑capital participation, regulatory reforms and fiscal incentives to support domestic maritime components.

Together, the statements reflect a coordinated push to reform PT PAL’s operations, enhance Indonesia’s maritime industrial base and increase the share of locally produced components in defence projects.
