Public health and vaccination campaigns in Colombia

Overview

Colombia has implemented broad public health initiatives focused on immunization and preventive care. In mid-September 2026, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection launched a National Vaccination Day, activating over 3,000 sites nationwide. This campaign provides free vaccines—including those for COVID-19, influenza, and HPV—to all residents and travelers. A specific priority was placed on expanding dengue vaccine access for 9-year-old children in regions such as Cali, Barranquilla, Sahagún, and El Carmen de Bolívar.

By late September 2026, health efforts in Bogotá expanded to include both vaccination and oral health programs. The Bogotá District Health Secretariat launched a vaccination campaign to provide booster doses and complete immunization schedules for diseases such as polio, measles, and hepatitis B. Simultaneously, the city initiated the IV District Oral Health Week, ‘La sonrisa nos une’, to promote dental hygiene in response to high notification rates of caries and gingivitis reported by the Oral Health Surveillance System.
