Public sanitation and pest control in Romania

Overview

Local authorities in various Romanian municipalities have initiated public sanitation and pest control measures. In late August, Bradu announced continued vegetable waste collection services, while Brașov scheduled disinsectization and phytosanitary treatments for early September to combat mosquitoes and ticks using biodegradable substances.

By mid-September, several regions expanded these efforts. Ghiroda and Giarmata Vii scheduled terrestrial disinfection using GPS-monitored vehicles and specific biocides. In Galați, a large-scale campaign was organized for September 14–17, involving aerial larvicidal helicopter treatments near water bodies followed by ground-based operations using thermal nebulizers. In both instances, authorities advised residents and agricultural workers, such as beekeepers, to take precautions during the treatments.
