Public security and civil defense in Acre

In September 2026, the state of Acre, Brazil, received various forms of institutional support to address regional challenges.

To combat rising crime statistics, the Civil Police announced investments in the Vale do Juruá region. These measures include the provision of new vehicles, computers, over 30 Glock pistols, and a new building for the Specialized Criminal Investigation Nucleus in Cruzeiro do Sul. General Delegate Pedro Buzolin noted that a new boat would assist in delivering identity cards to remote areas. This security push follows data from the National Public Security Information System indicating that Acre recorded 435 cases of rape and rape of vulnerable persons during the first seven months of 2026, a rate significantly higher than the national average.

Concurrently, the Brazilian federal government authorized a transfer of R$ 5.7 million to Acre to support Civil Defense response and protection actions. The funds, requested through the Integrated Information System on Disasters, are designated for specific protection activities and require the state to submit a final accountability report following the execution period.
