Public servant compensation and funding in Xapuri

In August 2026, the municipality of Xapuri introduced new legislative measures regarding public servant compensation. These measures included a monthly food allowance of R$ 600 for administrative support staff within the municipal education network, excluding certain professionals who already receive a national salary floor. Additionally, the Municipal Chamber approved a new remuneration table for commissioned positions, establishing specific salary scales for various administrative and legal roles.

Following these legislative changes, tensions arose regarding the distribution of funds for health workers. State Deputy Adailton Cruz demanded the release of over R$ 170,000 in parliamentary amendment funds intended for professional qualification bonuses. While the funds have been held in the municipal health fund since June, they have not yet been distributed to the more than 150 eligible health professionals. In response, workers scheduled a mobilization at the Xapuri Municipal Chamber to demand a payment schedule from the local administration.
