Public transport adjustments in Germany and the Netherlands

Public transport services in Germany and the Netherlands are undergoing various schedule adjustments and infrastructure-related disruptions during the August period.

In Gießen, Germany, MIT. BUS is returning to regular timetables following the summer break, though some school-specific reinforcement trips are being cancelled. In the Netherlands, bus services around Groningen are reverting to normal schedules from August 15, though maintenance on the N34 road between De Punt and Gieten is causing temporary route changes on several Q-link and Qliner lines through mid-September.

Further disruptions are reported in the Netherlands due to ProRail track work between Zwolle and Meppel starting August 14. This work, which involves replacing rails, sleepers, and ballast, has resulted in the suspension of train services between those stations, with NS providing replacement buses. These rail works are expected to impact travel toward Groningen and Leeuwarden. Simultaneously, night bus services in the Meppel and Groningen regions are being adjusted, including increased frequencies on routes to Assen, Roden, and Leek, and the resumption of specific lines to align with service changes.
