Public transport updates in Central Europe

Public transport services in Slovakia and the Czech Republic are undergoing various modifications, including schedule changes, route extensions, and technological transitions.

In Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, new bus schedules effective September 21, 2026, involve extending Line 23, adjusting Line 34 for train connections, and modifying Line 80, alongside the cancellation or rescheduling of several connections on Line 42.

In Prague, the transit system is transitioning from diesel to electric service; specifically, bus line 137 is being replaced by an electric trolleybus service on Line 52 using new battery trolleybuses to provide quieter, emission-free transport. Additionally, the new express ‘tunnel bus’ (Line 145) has completed its first month of operation, providing rapid connections through the City Ring tunnels.

In České Budějovice, plans have been announced to extend bus line 12 to Švábův Hrádek next year to serve previously underserved areas, a project with an estimated annual cost of approximately eight million CZK.
