Puebla 2026 national sports tournaments

In July 2026 Puebla hosted two major national sporting events. From 25 July to 1 August the State Tennis Centre staged the National Youth‑Junior Tennis Tournament, drawing more than 400 junior players across four age categories and promoting skill development and international exposure.

At the same time, the Centro Expositor held the Festival Máster de Voleibol, the country’s premier masters volleyball competition for athletes over 30. The week‑long tournament ran from 27 July to 1 August, featuring 732 amateur teams, over 7,500 participants and the installation of 40 courts on more than 15,000 m² of exhibition space. Mayor Pepe Chedraui welcomed the event, noting it was the first edition held in the state capital, and highlighted coordination among the municipal government, Governor Alejandro Armenta and the Secretariat of Sport and Youth.

Seven teams from Zamora, Michoacán – including a Master Feminine squad and Golden and Diamond age‑group teams – traveled to Puebla to compete, receiving good wishes from SAPAZ director Joel Romero, Sports director Ignacio Sandoval and municipal president Carlos Soto. Officials stressed the competition’s potential to boost tourism, hotel occupancy and local commerce, and State Sports Secretary Gabriela Sánchez said it positions Puebla as a benchmark for organizing large‑scale national sports events. Both tournaments were promoted as tools for community development, health promotion and tourism, underscoring Puebla’s growing role as a hub for major competitions.
