Puebla airport modernization and expansion

Overview

The Puebla State Government is moving forward with a modernization and expansion project for the Huejotzingo International Airport and the consolidation of the Puebla Airport District. The initiative involves an estimated total investment of 1,000 million pesos to improve infrastructure, access points, and commercial areas.

Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier stated that the state will provide government-owned land near the terminal to encourage economic and commercial development in partnership with the private sector. The project is being implemented in phases, with 600 million pesos allocated for the first stage and an additional 450 million pesos planned to complete the project by next year.

An agreement with Grupo Mundo Maya is currently under review to allow bidding processes to begin. Alongside these infrastructure improvements, the Secretariat of Tourism is launching promotional campaigns for the “Puebla, El Latido de México” brand across several major domestic hubs and is planning expansions into international markets, including New York, Los Angeles, Houston, and Chicago.
