Puerto Rican musical group releases following Bad Bunny tour

Overview

Following their participation in Bad Bunny’s recent world tour, Puerto Rican musical groups Los Pleneros de la Cresta and Chuwi have released new projects.

Los Pleneros de la Cresta released the album ‘Puerto Rico abraza al mundo’, which seeks to bring the traditional plena genre to a global audience. The album fuses plena with rhythms from various Latin American countries visited during the tour, such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, and Peru. The group utilizes traditional instruments like the güiro and three types of panderos to reinterpret iconic songs, including ‘Cielito Lindo’ and ‘De música ligera’.

Additionally, the band Chuwi released their debut LP, ‘Libertad’. The album’s title and artwork reference the 1937 Ponce Massacre. Chuwi previously gained international attention through a collaboration with Bad Bunny on the song ‘Weltita’.
