Quantum computing development in Brazil
Overview
Brazil is expanding its quantum computing capabilities through new hardware installations aimed at education and research.
In September 2026, Firjan Senai installed the Triangulum II, an educational quantum computer developed by SpinQ and Dobslit, at its DigiTech center. The machine is intended to train students and researchers in sectors such as logistics, finance, and pharmaceuticals.
Shortly after, the Eldorado Research Institute announced an agreement to acquire an IQM Spark system, featuring 54 qubits. Scheduled for installation in Campinas during the first quarter of 2027, this deployment—facilitated by a Brazil-Finland mission—is expected to be the first of its kind in South America. The facility will provide access to hardware and remote connectivity to European cloud infrastructure to support research in quantum algorithms and hybrid computing architectures.
