Queen Letizia's charitable engagements

In late July 2026, Queen Letizia welcomed a group of scholarship recipients from the Dominican Republic, Colombia and Peru at the Zarzuela Palace. The students were beneficiaries of a BBVA Microfinance Foundation program that provides full tuition, laptops and support to children of vulnerable entrepreneurs, a scheme that has assisted 181 young people since its 2020 launch.

A few weeks later, in early August 2026, the queen visited the Casa Esment disability‑inclusion centre in Palma de Mallorca with her daughters. The centre offers vocational workshops and training for people with intellectual disabilities, reporting that a high proportion of participants secure permanent employment. The visit underscored the foundation’s long‑standing role in promoting disability rights.
