Railway service disruptions in Romania

Overview

Railway services in Romania have experienced localized disruptions due to mechanical failures and environmental factors.

On August 22, traffic between Bălănoaia and Stănești was interrupted after a Constantin Grup freight train suffered a locomotive malfunction. The incident required an auxiliary locomotive from Giurgiu Nord to clear the line, affecting CFR Călători services until traffic resumed in the afternoon.

On August 27, services on Magistrala 300 were interrupted between Predeal and Brașov after a tree fell onto the tracks. The incident affected both tracks near the Timișu de Sus station, causing several trains, including international services such as the IR 346 from Bucharest Nord to Wien Westbahnhof, to stall. Partial service was restored on one track by the evening as specialized teams worked to clear the second track.
