Rakuten Viber ChatGPT integration

Overview

Rakuten Viber has introduced new AI-powered features through a collaboration with OpenAI. The platform launched ‘Your News’, which provides personalized daily news summaries, and ‘Unread Summary’, a tool designed to provide concise summaries of missed conversations to improve user efficiency.

To address privacy concerns, the company stated that the ‘Unread Summary’ feature only accesses the specific unread messages and participant names necessary to generate the summary, protecting the remainder of conversation data. The integration also allows users to access OpenAI capabilities, such as link summarization and image regeneration, directly within the Viber application.
