The impeachment committee, after receiving legal advice, voted not to summon the authors of the independent panel report and will rely on an evidence leader to guide the inquiry. Parliamentary legal advisers are still finalising an opinion on whether Ramaphosa can be compelled to testify voluntarily. Analysts note that despite the legal battles, the ANC’s parliamentary majority makes removal unlikely, and the constitutional dispute will dominate the impeachment timeline in the coming weeks.
