Rassemblement National security protocols in Orléans

Overview

During a Rassemblement National (RN) party congress in Orléans, security personnel implemented controversial measures to prevent disruptions by the feminist group Femen. Reports indicate that the party’s security department, the Département protection sécurité (DPS), issued instructions to check if female attendees were wearing bras. While women without bras were not systematically barred from entry, they were reportedly subjected to more intensive searches.

In addition to these checks, the event saw reports of physical aggression against members of the press. Journalists from outlets such as Mediapart and Politis were allegedly pushed down stairs, forcibly removed, and subjected to verbal abuse. One Mediapart reporter required evacuation by security following these incidents. These physical checks by private security firms have raised questions regarding compliance with the French Internal Security Code, which regulates body searches and requires express consent.
