Rebranding of Argentina’s Televisión Pública to Canal 7

Overview

Argentina’s state broadcaster, Televisión Pública, has officially reverted to its historic name, Canal 7, marking the 75th anniversary of the country’s first television transmission. The rebranding, implemented under President Javier Milei’s administration, includes a new visual identity, a redesigned logo, and a complete aesthetic overhaul.

The anniversary was commemorated with a three-hour special program and the inauguration of the ‘Paseo de las Estrellas’ at the station’s headquarters to honor significant figures in Argentine media and entertainment.

While the government describes the transition as a return to the station’s “original essence,” the move has drawn criticism from media workers. Labor representatives have raised concerns regarding the station’s condition, specifically citing budget cuts, staff reductions, and a perceived lack of diverse cultural and federal content during the restructuring process.
