Recruitment fraud in Nigerian government agencies

Overview

Nigerian government agencies have issued warnings regarding a rise in fraudulent recruitment schemes. The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) reported that scammers are using AI-generated appointment letters and extorting money from the public by falsely claiming to have connections within the agency.

Following this, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) also warned of unauthorized individuals circulating fake appointment letters to exploit job seekers. NAMA clarified that it is not currently conducting any recruitment and advised the public to disregard unofficial social media messages or claims by intermediaries, noting that the agency does not authorize third parties to solicit money for employment.
