Red Cross AED installations in Alba County
Overview
The Romanian Red Cross Alba Branch has begun installing semi-automatic automated external defibrillators (AED) in public spaces across Alba County to improve emergency medical response.
The initiative started with the installation of a device in the Alba Carolina Fortress tourist area in Alba Iulia, funded by companies Star Assembly and Star Transmission through the ‘Roboțelul Binelui’ campaign.
Following this, additional AED units were installed in the central areas of Sebeș and Cugir to mark World First Aid Day. These devices, which provide audio-visual guidance for users without medical training, were funded by a recycling initiative where citizens collected PET bottles, glass, and aluminum cans. The units are equipped with smart modules that transmit real-time alerts to the Red Cross upon activation.
