Red Cross humanitarian initiatives in Montenegro and Serbia

Overview

Red Cross organizations in Montenegro and Serbia have implemented various humanitarian aid programs targeting vulnerable populations. In Montenegro, the Red Cross in Tivat launched food and hygiene kit distributions for households to coincide with the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Additionally, the Red Cross of Montenegro concluded the ‘HOPE – Holistic Protection in the Community for the Elderly and Informal Caregivers’ project in Podgorica. This led to the announcement of ‘HOPE II’, a new phase starting November 1 that will focus on sustaining support centers in Cetinje and Nikšić and piloting a social transport service for elderly residents in rural areas.

In Serbia, the Red Cross in Subotica initiated a distribution program to mark World Food Day. Supported by municipal funding, the program provides 2,500 food packages and 750 hygiene kits to individuals utilizing public kitchens and social services.
