RedMetro electric transit expands in San Luis Potosí

Overview

The government of San Luis Potosí has expanded its free RedMetro public transportation network. Following the launch of the RedMetro Riviera Huasteca, which connects Ciudad Valles with Tamazunchale using 50 electric vehicles, Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona introduced the RedMetro Rioverde-Ciudad Fernández line. This expansion serves the state’s Media zone, covering approximately 40.9 kilometers with 24 stops and a terminal at Parque Los Azahares.

Building on this momentum, Governor Gallardo Cardona has announced further infrastructure and mobility projects for the Peñasco area and various communities within Mexquitic de Carmona. A new RedMetro line is expected to begin operations in January, connecting Circuito Potosí with Peñasco. Additional lines are also planned to serve the communities of Maravillas, Estanzuela, and Ojo Zarco to improve local road connectivity.

The Governor noted that existing Red Metro routes in the Zona Media and the Ciudad Valles-Tamazunchale corridor are currently experiencing “high demand.” In addition to these transit expansions, the administration has pledged to construct a sports unit in Peñasco and repair regional roads to address local community requests.
