RedMetro electric transit launch in San Luis Potosí

Overview

The government of San Luis Potosí is launching the RedMetro transit system in the Huasteca region. Supported by an initial investment of 400 million pesos, the project will deploy 50 electric vehicles to connect Tamazunchale with Ciudad Valles, including stops in Matlapa, Axtla de Terrazas, Xilitla, Aquismón, and Tancanhuitz.

The service is designed to be entirely free and will feature amenities such as air conditioning and free internet to provide sustainable, zero-emission transportation for students, workers, and families. Additionally, the Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes (SCT) announced that RedMetro Line 3 Circuito Potosí will extend its operating hours until midnight during the 2026 Feria Nacional Potosina (Fenapo) to assist residents and visitors.
