Redondela public school resource and infrastructure disputes

The Redondela City Council has accused the Xunta de Galicia of “total abandonment” regarding the maintenance and structural improvement of public schools and institutes. Local officials highlighted significant deficiencies in several facilities, including risks of roof collapses at CEIP Laredo and issues with facades, staircases, and heating systems at other locations. The municipality also noted that the EEI A Marisma lacks a dining service.

As the new school year begins, educational associations and staff have expanded these concerns to include resource shortages and administrative failures. The Federation of ANPAs of Redondela criticized the paralysis of the Municipal School Council and delays in dining hall subsidies. Additionally, staff at IES Pedro Floriani reported significant staffing shortages following the introduction of a new vocational training cycle, forcing the reorganization of student groups. The CIG-Ensino union has called on the Xunta de Galicia to address the discrepancy between official claims of increased staffing and the insufficient resources reported by local centers.
