Reggio Calabria Metropolitan City administration

The Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria Council has scheduled an urgent and extraordinary session for September 10, 2026. Mayor Francesco Cannizzaro convened the meeting to address several administrative and financial matters. The agenda includes the ratification of budget variations for the 2026-2028 period, specifically concerning the building and heritage sectors. Additionally, the council will discuss the implementation of a convention between the Calabria Region and the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria regarding guarantee obligations, as well as budget adjustments to fund activities mandated by Regional Law n. 30 of November 26, 2001. The session also covers planning for the school network and the Educational Offer Plan for the 2027-2028 academic year.

Following these scheduled discussions, the council addressed several administrative priorities, including global insurance coverage for municipal buildings and a €300,000 investment intended to support a network of typical restaurants in the Greek Calabria area. Furthermore, an institutional coordination table was established to monitor wage transparency and combat the gender pay gap within the metropolitan area. This initiative involves local stakeholders, including trade unions and the Chamber of Commerce, to implement EU directives regarding pay transparency and pre-employment disclosure requirements.
