Regional beauty industry professional recognition
Overview
Beauty professionals in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia have achieved various regional and international accolades. Initial recognition focused on individual salon achievements, such as an award-winning interior design for a studio in Novi Travnik and a third-place finish in a brow treatment category at the Facefestival Balkan competition for a salon in the Bjelovar area.
This recognition expanded to larger-scale competitive successes, including the Croatian “Majstori ljepote” (Masters of Beauty) delegation. This team of 11 elite hairdressers and cosmetologists, selected from winners of the Croatian Chamber of Crafts national championship, traveled to Paris for the OMC Hairworld 2026 World Hairdressing Championship at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.
During the Paris competition held on October 11 and 12, 2026, Croatian hairdressers secured multiple top-five global rankings. Daniela Žderić from Metković placed fifth in the Hollywood Glamour category, while the team of Josipa Bobovec, Andrijana Žoldin, and Pavle Matešić earned fifth place in the Gents Fashion Cup team ranking. Jelena Ivaniš, Vice President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, stated these results demonstrate that Croatian professionals can compete equally with the world’s best.
In regional competitions, Croatian hairdresser Ivana Horvatović won first place at the Nook International Day competition in Belgrade. Her presentation, themed “Eco-Luxury and Sustainable Glam,” featured a hairstyle made of natural hair and plants paired with a dress crafted from canvas, jute, and gold brocade by students from the Požega Vocational School.
