Regional cultural programming in October

Overview

Cultural and gastronomic programming continues across Spain and other regions. In Spain, the eighteenth edition of ‘Una Pará en Gines’ is concluding, featuring the ‘Ciudad de Gines’ Pure Spanish Horse Morphofunctional Contest, the Spanish Championship of Yuntas and Carreteros, and national ham slicing.

In the culinary sector, Sergio Escudero’s victory in the National Ham Slicing Contest in Corteconcepción has secured his place in the 2027 Spanish Championship. The competition utilized 100% Iberian acorn-fed ham from the DOP Jabugo designation.

Regional cultural activities remain diverse. The tenth International Bartolomé de Torres Naharro Congress in Torre de Miguel Sesmero is focusing on 16th-century Spanish theater. In Villaviciosa, autumn programming includes cinema, theater, and opera, while the 33rd Medieval Market in Tordesillas expects up to 30,000 visitors.

Environmental and community initiatives also persist, such as the development of a new green space in Alicante’s Serra Grossa to improve urban views and environmental access. Meanwhile, municipalities including Cambrils, Zamora, Vilafranca, and Tarragona are implementing various library and community programs featuring storytelling, reading clubs, and art exhibitions.
