Regional environmental and health initiatives in Chile

Overview

Various regional environmental and health initiatives have been launched across several Chilean regions.

In the O’Higgins region, the Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Health conducted a workshop for medical students to address the clinical and legal responsibilities of issuing medical licenses to prevent the misuse of public resources.

In the Biobío region, the Ministry of the Environment is executing the RECOGE Plan to conserve the Queule species and its coastal forest habitat through participatory workshops and educational field trips in several communes.

Additionally, in the Maule region, authorities launched an Integrated Action Plan for Lake Vichuquén. This initiative focuses on managing sanitary risks and water quality through community education, sewage system inspections, and water monitoring, including cyanobacteria sampling scheduled between October 2026 and March 2027.
