Release of Dominican film Los Rechazados 2

The Dominican film production company Bougroup is preparing for the August 13 release of “Los Rechazados 2: Operación Espacial” (also referred to as “Los Rechazados 2: Misión Espacial”). The film is a sequel to the first installment, which was noted as the highest-grossing Dominican film of 2025.

Directed by Yasser Michelén, the production is a blend of comedy, action, and science fiction set in a near-future environment facing a climate crisis and a threat from an artificial intelligence known as Genesis. The plot involves a group of unconventional characters recruited for a space mission to prevent human extinction.

The sequel aims to expand Dominican comedy to an international scale and utilize new visual effects. Actor Frank Perozo returns to play the character Benito, a role he has held across three different productions. Following the success of the previous film, which helped establish Bougroup’s presence on Disney+, this new release is also expected to eventually arrive on the Disney+ streaming platform.
