Release of film ‘Lo dejamos acá’ starring Ricardo Darín

Overview

Argentine actor Ricardo Darín headlined the 74th San Sebastián International Film Festival to present the world premiere of the black comedy ‘Lo dejamos acá’, directed by Hernán Goldfrid and written by Emanuel Diez. The film stars Darín alongside Diego Peretti and explores themes of mental health through a psychoanalyst, Ulises Verón, who faces a crisis of faith in traditional therapy and begins using unconventional methods with patients.

Following a limited theatrical run in Argentina, the 97-minute film was released globally on Netflix on October 16. On the streaming platform, the film is titled ‘A Terapia Certa’. The release marks a significant onscreen reunion for Darín and Peretti. The plot intensifies when Verón meets a writer, played by Peretti, who is struggling with a creative block, leading to blurred professional boundaries. Critics have characterized the film’s tone as a ‘suspense comedy’ that examines narcissism and moral responsibility.

In recent media appearances following the release, Darín discussed his personal history with psychotherapy, admitting that his previous attempts at therapy were unsuccessful. He recounted instances where he attempted to psychoanalyze his therapists, noting a tendency to apply personal psychological insights to others. Additionally, Darín shared reflections on his transition into grandfatherhood, noting the emotional impact of seeing his son, Chino Darín, embrace parenthood while residing in Barcelona, Spain.
