Release of psychoanalytic book on human sexuality

Psychoanalysts Mônica Donetto Guedes and Renata Botelho have organized a new book titled ‘Sexualidades Não Nascem Prontas: do nascimento ao envelhecimento’ (Sexualities Are Not Born Ready: from birth to aging), published by INM Editora. The collection uses a psychoanalytic lens to examine human sexuality and desire as dynamic, lifelong processes influenced by culture, personal history, and identity transformations.

Key themes within the work include the impact of social pressures on the body, the evolution of affective bonds regarding new technologies, and the complexities of contemporary relationships. One specific chapter by Guedes addresses the postpartum period, examining how exhaustion and emotional support influence intimacy.

The book is scheduled for launch events in Brazil, including an event on August 13 at Livraria da Travessa in Rio de Janeiro and a subsequent launch on August 20 at Livraria Drummond in São Paulo. Both events are free to the public and include autograph sessions.
