Release of Tenzing Mount Everest biopic

Overview

Apple Original Films released a trailer for “Tenzing,” a new feature film directed by Jennifer Peedom. Based on true events, the movie depicts the story of Tenzing Norgay and his historic ascent of Mount Everest alongside Edmund Hillary.

The film explores the cultural and social tensions of the 1953 British expedition, contrasting Western views of Everest as a conquest with the spiritual reverence held by the Sherpa people. The narrative highlights the Sherpa perspective, addressing systemic racism and the necessity of mountaineering for survival.

“Tenzing” features an ensemble cast including Genden Phuntsok, Tom Hiddleston, Willem Dafoe, and Caitríona Balfe. The film is scheduled for a limited theatrical release on October 9, 2026, followed by a worldwide release on Apple TV on October 16, 2026.
