Release and reception of Vancouver Giants docuseries

Overview

Prime Video announced the upcoming release of ‘Hometown Giants’, a six-episode documentary series focused on the Vancouver Giants, a junior hockey team in the Western Hockey League. The series features part-owners Michael Bublé and Drew Scott and follows the team during the 2025-2026 season as they seek their first championship since 2007.

The production, which covers front-office decisions, roster trades, and the personal lives of teenage players, was scheduled for an October 16, 2026, release. Following the scheduled date, the Canadian original docuseries, produced by Scott Brothers Entertainment in association with Amazon MGM Studios, became available for global streaming on Prime Video.

Since its release, ‘Hometown Giants’ has received positive initial reviews. Critics have praised the series for its portrayal of high-pressure moments and its focus on the young players. While Movieguide.org described the series as ‘worth the watch’, reviewers noted that the content contains frequent foul language and mild violence during on-ice fights, which may affect suitability for younger audiences.
