Overview

Religious and public figures have conducted several visits to historical and religious sites in Azerbaijan, specifically within the Shusha region and other liberated territories.

Initially, a delegation of Azerbaijani religious figures from Turkey, Georgia, and Iraq visited Shusha to observe sites such as the Shusha Fortress, the Victory Monument, and the Govhar Agha mosques. During this visit, officials noted the destruction of religious and historical monuments that occurred during the period of occupation.

Following this, Baku hosted an international scientific-practical conference dedicated to the theologian Sheikh Seyid Yahya Bakuvi Shirvani. Organized by the Caucasus Muslims Office as part of a meeting for the Organization of Turkic States, the event drew nearly 200 participants from approximately 40 countries. After the conference, the delegation traveled to Aghdam, Khojaly, Khankendi, and Shusha to visit the Khojaly Genocide Memorial Complex and observe ongoing reconstruction and restoration efforts in the region.
