Religious ceremonies in Argolis, Greece

Overview

The Argolis region is preparing for significant religious events involving sacred icons and saint commemorations.

In early September, the Holy Church of Saint Nektarios in Argos will celebrate the translation of the Saint’s relics with a Great Panegyric Vespers and a festive Divine Liturgy.

Following these celebrations, the Holy and Miraculous Icon of the Virgin Mary of the Mount of Olives is scheduled to arrive in Nafplio from Jerusalem on September 29, 2026. Transported by Archimandrite Jeronimos, the icon will be officially received at the Holy Temple of Evangelistria by the Metropolitan of Argolis, Nektarios. With the blessing of Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem, the icon will remain in Nafplio until October 6, 2026, during which time the temple will host daily liturgical services, including Matins, Divine Liturgy, and Vespers.
