Renewable Energy Equipment Manufacturer Rankings
Overview
In late July 2026, two independent assessments highlighted the financial and market standing of firms producing energy‑storage systems and photovoltaic (PV) inverters.
Sinovoltaics issued its third edition financial‑stability ranking covering September 2023 through June 2026 for 65 storage‑related manufacturers. Using the Altman Z‑Score, it placed 30 firms in a “safe” zone, 18 in a “grey” zone and 17 in “distress.” Diversified industrial players such as Tesla, ABB, Delta Electronics, Eaton, Siemens Energy and GE Vernova averaged a strong score of 5.54, while inverter makers averaged 3.26, battery‑cell producers 2.03, and solar‑module makers only 1.13. Stand‑alone storage integrators performed worst, with an average of 0.08. Notable movers included ESS Tech, whose score fell sharply, and GE Vernova, HyperStrong and SolaX Power, which rose into the safe zone. A parallel PV‑inverter ranking listed 18 firms as safe, led by Delta Electronics (Z‑Score 11.44), followed by KSTAR, APsystems and Sinexcel.
A few days later, Wood Mackenzie released its 2025 global rankings for battery‑energy‑storage‑system (BESS) integrators and PV‑inverter manufacturers. Chinese firm Sungrow topped both lists, earning a Grade‑A rating for its inverters and leading the inaugural BESS integrator ranking. The BESS assessment noted worldwide installations exceeding 100 GW in 2025, underscoring storage’s expanding role in flexible power systems.
Together, the reports illustrate a sector where financial robustness varies sharply across sub‑segments, while a few large Chinese manufacturers, particularly Sungrow, are consolidating leadership in both storage integration and inverter technology.
