Subsequent findings from the Framingham Offspring Study further established the link between accelerated biological aging and increased mortality, showing a doubled risk of death and significantly higher risks of cardiovascular disease. Expanding on these links, research involving over 11,000 young adults in the US suggests that biological aging and metabolic health are critical indicators for early-onset diseases. A study by researchers at Boston University and Princeton University focused on cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome—encompassing obesity, high blood pressure, and poor lipid or glucose levels—using ultrasound to identify early vascular damage in individuals in their early 20s. Approximately 80 percent of these participants exhibited risk factors for future heart disease. Additionally, research published in Nature Medicine using UK Biobank data has linked accelerated biological aging to increased cancer risk. By applying the PhenoAge algorithm to blood values, researchers found that individuals born between 1965 and 1974 had a biological age gap 23 percent higher than those born in the early 1950s. This discrepancy is associated with a greater risk of developing colorectal, lung, and uterine tumors at an earlier age. Further medical observations in the United Kingdom highlight that approximately 16 million adults suffer from hypertension, often unknowingly.
